Health Care Advocacy: "Preventing Disaster: An Overview of the Fatal Five"

This webinar will address the health conditions sometimes referred to as the "Fatal Five" - aspiration, dehydration, constipation, infection/sepsis, and seizures. These conditions are common causes of preventable death in people with IDD. Attendees will learn about how these conditions can develop, know what to look out for, and receive practical advice, tips, and resources in preventing their onset. Family members, caregivers, direct support professionals, and others are highly encouraged to attend!

Meet the Presenter:
Annette Dunnah, MSN, RN, CDDN, NC-BC
has over 30 years of experience in the IDD field, and over 25 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. She is a Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse and a Board-Certified Nurse Coach. Annette currently serves as the Senior Director of Health Services for The Arc of Monmouth, where she oversees the operations of the organization’s clinical services which includes primary care, psychiatry, mental health counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, nursing, and behavioral supports. Annette has held various leadership positions in nursing and program operations for organizations that provide services to the IDD community. Annette holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
