11/7/23: Quality Of Care for Direct Support Professionals

Quality of care is the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes. Quality health care can be defined in many ways but there is growing acknowledgement that quality health services should be: +Effective – providing evidence-based healthcare services to those who need them; +Safe – avoiding harm to people for whom the care is intended; and +People-centerd – providing care that responds to individual preferences, needs and values. Samantha Goldfarb joined The Arc of New Jersey as the Director of Training and Consultation Services in May of this year. She has several years of experience working for people with IDD in many roles, including as a job coach, residential DSP, and day-habilitation volunteer. Samantha provides free trainings to job coaches, self-advocates, and their families with the goal of improving the quality and experience of supported employment in New Jersey. https://www.arcnj.org/programs/training-and-consultation-services/
